2018 Gloucester Marathon & Marathon Road Relay

2018 Gloucester Marathon and Gloucester Marathon Road Relay Race Day Instructions and Information - PLEASE READ 

The event is being held on a new course starting in Kingways Woodvale Quedgeley going through the villages of Haresfield and Colethrop.
Please take the time to read all of the race day instructions below. A copy of the 2018 Race Day Instructions and Information is also available to download from our Website  Please make sure you read through the instructions thoroughly.
In the unfortunate cancellation of the event through circumstances beyond the control of the race organisers there will be no refunds of entry fees but the race will be organised at the earliest possible date. Please go onto our website:  for further details
Extreme Weather Conditions 
In the event of extreme weather conditions the organisers reserve the right to cancel the race at any time due to safety of the runners.
Car Parking 
The car park will be allocated to you prior to the race you will receive an email with details of the car park in Waterwells Business Park you have been allocated. 
Directions to Waterwells Business Park
By road from the M5 Junction 12 follow signs to Gloucester B4008 at the first roundabout from the M5 take the second exit A38 and then take the next exit left up the slip road (B4008) signed Hardwicke follow the B4008 to the next roundabout take the third exit off this roundabout into Naas Lane. You have been allocated a car park with the companies name the road name and post code. This will be forwarded to you in personal email


From the A40/A417 ring road roundabout 
Follow signs to Gloucester over causeway at the first traffic lights turn right A430 Castle Meads Way/Llanthony Road follow A430 after 4kms you join the Bristol Road A38 follow this road for approximately 2.4 kms at the first roundabout take the first left into Waterwells Drive. You have been allocated a car park with the name of the road the companies name and post code. This will be forwarded to you in personal email
Registration and general enquiries is located within the Kingsway Sport Pavilion, Newhaven Road, Quedgeley GL2 2SN your race number and chip and baggage label which you will be required to write your Name and Race Number on the baggage label and fill in the details in on the back of your race. You will be given a Tech T -Shirt which is to be collected at race registration prior to the race.
Race Registration will be open on Saturday 13th January 2018 from 12 Noon to 4pm and on Sunday 14th January from 8am to 10.45am
There will be portloos in the car park at race registration
There will be a refreshment vehicle at race registration car park from 8am to 10.30am
Personal and Medical details 
As a condition of entry to this event you are required to complete your personal details on the back of your race number. You also agree that these may be made available, along with any other personal details to the event organisers and the relevant medical race services. In the event of an emergency part of the event terms and conditions are that you agree to supply your contact details to these bodies. By displaying your number you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this event. Your next of kin/emergency contact should be someone who will be contactable on the day of this event.
For reasons of health and safety your race number must not be transferred to another person. Doing so without the permission of the event organisers will result in disqualification.

In the interest of your own safety and that of your fellow runners you will not be allowed to run wearing an MP3 player or portable audio device (iPod or similar) The roads will not be closed to traffic and you will not be fully aware of traffic and around you. Neither will you hear instructions from marshals or the police.
Because of the narrowness of some of the course spectators must not follow the race by bicycle or Vehicle this can be dangerous. The pacing of runners by cyclists is against British Athletics rules and any runner deemed to have been paced will be disqualified.
The course will have a UKA Certificate of Course Accuracy and a UK Athletics race licence. The course is out and back to a single loop of 5.5 miles which you will complete four laps at the end of each lap you will be given an arm band to ensure you run the correct numbers of laps. The route is mainly flat with a few inclines. Runners must keep to the left hand side of the road accept when they are directed by marshals to the right hand side of the road at no time cut corners which may cause danger to themselves and other road users. Therefore please follow the advice of the marshals and if running in groups keep no more than two abreast and keep to the left hand side of the road. Should you be seen running in such a way as to cause danger to other road users then you risk disqualification.

There will be a vehicle available so you can put your baggage into a van just behind the start line it will be transferred to Robin Greaves Sports Hall Quedgeley Wanderers Football club GL2 2AG which is 200 metres from the finish. There will be some one with the baggage at all times.


Baggage is left at the owner’s risk
Race briefing will take place on the start line 10.40am at Woodvale
The Start is at 10.45am on Woodvale 400 metres from race registration on Sunday 14th January 2018
Time Limit
The organisers have imposed a strict 5 hours-30 Mins Time Limit and at 14.30 hrs the marshalling will progressively removed from the course in accordance with this limit at the start of the loop which is at a T junction on Haresfield Lane where you to left at the end of each lap which is approximately 200 metre past the feeding station
Medical Support 
First aid and emergency cover is provided by Local Medical Services There will also be staff on duty on the course and Aid at the finish
If you cannot complete the course, keep your race number on until you report to a marshal. A Vehicle will be on the course to collect you and take you to the finish. A medical recovery team will be on hand at the finish and on the course should you require assistance. Please feel free to ask for help at any time.

The Finish is at Brunel Court Waterwells Business Park which is 200 metres from Robin Greaves Hall Quedgeley Wanderers Football Club GL2 2AG. This is the new location of race HQ after the race you will be able to get refreshment which Gloucester A.C. will be provided on sale. There is changing rooms and you will be able to get a shower. Up and Running sports will be selling Sports Wear and running shoes also there will be a sport massage therapy available to runners in the sports Hall Post Race

At the end of the race you will receive a specially designed Medal
Individual Results will be available in the finish location

The Race Presentation will take place in Robin Greaves Sport Hall 1stQuedgeley Wanderers Football Club at approximately 14.25hrs.This is 200 metres from the finish line.

Prizes   1st three Individuals Men/Women, 1st Female Vet 40 and Male Vet 40 and then in the subsequent 10 year age groups up to 80 years of age (No competitor will be able to win two prizes if a vet finisher in the first three positions they will receive the Individual prize)

There will be a photographer at the event taking pictures which you can purchase your photography a business card with information details of the company will be in your race envelope with your race number and chip and label.
