The first lap obviously will be approximately 1 mile shorter.

Before the race

Write your name, contact details in the event of an emergency and any relevant medical information on the back of this number which should be pinned at each corner and visible on the front of your clothing during the race.
Assemble for the briefing in the village hall at 9:20am allowing plenty of time to get to the start, although we plan to walk competitors to the start at 09.30hrs.

During the race

Runners are responsible for counting their own laps; to assist you we are adapting a system used in triathlons. You will be giving a arm band at the end of each lap these should be placed around your wrist when the marathon runners have 3 bands they will turn right at the T junction and left into the village hall car park to the finish once the Ultra 35.35 mile runners have received 4 bands they will turn right at the T junction and will be directed to the finish which is approximately 68 metres.

Note that judges will be listing numbers as runners pass the end of each lap and will attempt to assist with lap counting.

RUNNERS MUST KEEP TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR THE WHOLE OF THE RACE. Running on the right could invalidate your insurance cover and causes danger to other road users. Do not cause concern by running 3 or more abreast and, at the same time, crossing to the right to cut corners causing danger to themselves and other road users; follow the advice of marshals and if running in groups keep two abreast and on the left side. Should you be seen running in a way that may cause danger then you risk disqualification.

The race is run, anti clockwise, entirely on rural country lanes, which are not normally busy. The roads are not all in perfect condition, so be aware of potholes and other surface irregularities. This is an agricultural area, so expect some occasional mud and other substances to be on the road. Baggage can be left in the changing rooms you must accept any risk.

In the interest of your own safety and that of your fellow runners you will not be allowed to run wearing an MP3 player or portable audio device (ipod or similar) you will be disqualified. The roads will not be closed to traffic and you will not be fully aware of traffic around you. Neither will you hear the instructions from marshals or the police.

Marshals will be sited at all significant turning points to look after runners’ safety so please follow and comply with their requests at all times. Mile signs are at every mile up to 10 miles and then at regular intervals.

Drink stations are every 3 miles approximately and will have water with High 5 at the 3 and 6 mile stations.
We wish you a successful race and hope you perform to your best and achieve your expectations at the distance.
