INSTRUCTIONS - Gloucester 10 Mile Road Race & Gloucester 10 Mile Wheelchair Race Sunday 29th December 2019
Race Venue 
Race HQ Registration and General Enquiries are located within Robin Greaves Sports Hall, Quedgeley Wanderers Football Club, Stephenson Drive, Quedgeley, Gloucester.GL2 2AG. From 8am – 9.30am your race number and chip is to be collected on the day. Please allow enough time to collect your race number and chip. There is a regularly booking every Sunday so we have to leave the premises by 9.30am until 11am
Please allow enough time when you collected your race number and chip from race registration to get to the race assemble point on Davy Way by 10.00am. Its 1.5kms from Race HQ to Davy Way.
Between 08:00am -09:30am limited Changing rooms will be available to runners prior to the Start of the race. All Runners will be able to change and get a shower after the race from 11am onwards. Changing and hot showers will be available after the race at Race HQ where the Award presentation will take place at 12 Noon
Withdraw Policy
Please note we have a withdraw policy which is on our website. Please read this policy before you enter the race.
Parking This is at Waterwells Park and Ride, Telford Way, Quedgeley, Gloucester. GL2 2AB which is 1K to Race HQ. There will be signs in yellow with black arrow to direct you from the car park to race registration.
There is no parking at race HQ under any circumstances.
Start Time 10.00am Gloucester 10 Mile Wheelchair Race On Davy Way.
The Athletes for the Gloucester 10 Mile Road Race will Start from Davy Way at 10.10am
The Course 
The course has a UKA Certificate of Course Accuracy. The course is 2 laps. First lap 7.3kms, the second lap 8.7kms which is mainly flat scenic route with a few inclines. The Gloucester 10K Run was won in 29mins-44sec on the same course route. The real beauty of this challenge this event is for runners of all abilities charity, recreation runners, Club Runners and Elite Athletes and gives participants the chance to try for a personal best time before the end of the year on a scenic rural route The Finish is in Brunel Court 200 metres away from Race HQ and registration Robin Greaves Sports Hall.
 
 

Road Closures
Due to the fact we have had to employ a Highways Management Company to put road closures in on part of the new course route this has necessitated an increase on last year’s entry fee
Please allow enough time when you collected your race number and chip from race registration to get to the race assemble point on Davy Way by no later than 09.55am .Its 1.5kms from Race HQ to Davy Way.
Race Number
You must complete the information required on the back of your race number including any medical details .This must be completed under all circumstance.
Your running number must be on the front of your vest or jacket and pinned in each corner and can be clearly seen by marshal’s race officials and when you cross the finishing line
Race Briefing
Please read all the race information provided within this race information thoroughly you will take full responsibility if you have not read all the details in this document. Please do not complain to the race organiser’s if you have not read all the detail information of the Gloucester 10 Mile Road Race (There will be no race briefing prior to the race)
Direction Signs to the Race Start - There will be yellow signs with black arrows to direct you from race HQ to Davey Way assemble area for the race. This is 1.5kms from race registration. Please allow enough time to get to Davy Way by no later than 09.55am.
Baggage 
There is a baggage area for all competitors to put their baggage into a van in the assemble area on Davey Way. Once the race starts your baggage will be taken to Race HQ Robin Greaves Sports Hall. You can hand your bagging in just before the start of the race. There will be personnel from the Royal British Legion Hardwicke Branch Gloucester with your baggage for the duration of the race.
Age Limit 17 Years of age on race day
Time Limit 
The organisers have imposed a strict 2 hours-15 minutes Time limit and at 12.25pm the marshalling will progressively be removed from the course in accordance of the time limit.

During the race
RUNNERS MUST KEEP TO THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR THE WHOLE OF THE RACE. Running on the right could invalidate your insurance cover and causes danger to other road users. Please do not cause concerns by running 2 or more abreast and, at the same time, crossing to the right to cut corners causing danger to themselves and other road users; follow the advice of marshals and if running in groups keep no more than two abreast and on the left side. Should you be seen running in a way that may cause danger then you risk disqualification. There will be sections of the course where there is road closures obviously this rule will not apply on these sections of the course route
The race is run clockwise entirely on rural country lanes, which are not normally busy. The roads are not all in perfect condition, so please be aware of potholes and other surface irregularities. This is an agricultural area, so expect some occasional mud and other substances to be on the road.
Personal and Medical details
Has a condition of entry to this event you are required to complete your personal and medical details in the boxes on the back of your race number. You also agree that these may be made available, along with any other personal details to the event organisers and the relevant medical race services. In the event of an emergency part of the event terms and conditions are that you agree to supply your contact details to these bodies. By displaying your number you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this event. Your next of kin/emergency contact should be someone who will be contactable on the day of this event.

In the interest of your own safety and that of your fellow runners you will not be allowed to run wearing an MP3 player or portable audio device (iPod or similar) and you will be disqualified. The roads will not be closed to traffic and you will not be fully aware of traffic and around you. Neither will you hear instructions from marshals or the police. 
For reasons of health and safety your number must not be transferred to another person. Doing so without the permission of the event organisers will result in disqualification.

Photographer 
Charles Whitton photography Sports Event will be taking. Pictures of the Runners in the event you will be able to order your photos. Online through a link on the Front page of our website or go onto. This service is provided for the runners the event organisers do not get any commission on the sale of photographs. Please do not make any complaints to the race organisers. If you feel the photograph’s are to expenses do not buy the photo.

Presentation of Awards 
This will take place at Robin Greaves Sports Hall, Quedgeley Wanderers Football Club, Stephenson Drive, Quedgeley, Gloucester. GL2 2AG at 12 Noon

Prizes 
  
1st three Individuals Men/Women 1st Female Vet 40 1st Male Vet 40 and then in the subsequent 10 year age groups up to 80 years of age. Please note an athlete can only win one prize. If a veteran athlete finishes in the first three positions overall Men or Women they will receive the Individual prize

Refreshments 
There will be refreshments available prior to the Start of the race from 8am onwards outside race HQ in the car park Robin Greaves Sports Hall and after the Finish at the same location.   
                 

Results- After the race the results will be put up on the wall to the side of race Presentation in Robin Greaves Sports Hall.

Postponement Extreme Weather Conditions
In the unfortunate postponement of the event through circumstances beyond the control of the race organisers there will be no refunds but the race will be organised at the earliest date. Travel Information
From M5 Junction 12
Follow the B4008 to Cross Keys roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A38 towards Gloucester after 1.2k your come to another roundabout take the 2nd exit into Waterwells Drive and then the 1st exit left off the next roundabout into Telford Way. The Park and Ride his 250 metres on your left hand side of the road.
From A40/A417
Follow ring road over Causeway turn right A430 Castle Meads Way, Llanthony Road follow the A430 Hempsted Road,Secunda Way, Bristol Road at the traffic lights on Bristol Road follow the A38 at the first set traffic lights from the previous traffic lights turn 1st left in Kingsway and after about 150 metres you take the 2nd exit off the roundabout into Newhaven Road ASDA will be on your right hand side of the road follow Newhaven Road to the next roundabout take the 2nd exit off into Telford Way. The park and Ride car park is 130 metres on the right hand side of the road. 
From Tewkesbury A38 to Gloucester
At roundabout from Tewkesbury Road A38 take the 3rd exit onto the ring road A40 towards Ross on Wye at the next roundabout take the 1st exit towards Gloucester A417 at the first set of traffic lights take the first turning right into A430 Castle Meads Way, Llanthony Road follow the A430 Hempsted Road,Secunda Way, Bristol Road at the traffic lights on Bristol Road follow the A38 to the first set of traffic lights from the previous traffic lights turn left in Kingsway and after about 150 metres you take the 2nd exit off this roundabout into Newhaven Road ASDA will be on your right hand side of the road follow Newhaven Road to the next roundabout take the 2nd exit off into Telford Way. From Cheltenham A40
At Elmbridge Court roundabout A40 follow the ring towards Ross on Wye at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit A40 follow the ring road to the next roundabout and take the 1st exit left towards Gloucester A417 at the first set of traffic lights take the first turning right into A430 Castle Meads Way, Llanthony Road follow the A430 Hempsted Road, Secunda Way, Bristol Road at the traffic lights on Bristol Road follow the A38 at the first set of traffic lights from the previous traffic lights turn left in Kingsway and after about 150 metres you take the 2nd exit off the roundabout into Newhaven Road ASDA will be on your right hand side of the road follow Newhaven Road to the next roundabout take the 2nd exit into Telford Way. From Cirencester
A417 Birdlip follow the A417 down Birdlip hill to the dual Carriage Way take the 2nd exit on your left signed Motorway M5 South West. Follow the M5 to junction 12 come off the motorway up a slip road to a roundabout and follow the B4008 to Cross Keys roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A38 towards Gloucester after 1.2k your come to another roundabout take the 2nd exit into Waterwells Drive and then the 1st exit left off the next roundabout into Telford Way. The Park and Ride his 250 metres on your left hand side of the road.
